Spring Summer 2021 Reversed Future Theme Trend

Author:Alice 2019-11-28

Reversed Future theme trend

From the 1940s to the 1980s, technology developed rapidly. Lloyd Dunn, a famous publisher, coined Retro Futurism in 1983, which refers to the imitation of early futuristic design by contemporary art. Nostalgic and technical futuristic styles mix, and contrasting elements create parallel space-time like reality. With the support of modern tech, early futurism still has unrealized ideas, adding appeal to "the future that never happened", and enhancing the S/S 2021 retro futuristic aesthetics through virtual technology and brilliant colors. Digital space reverses the future, taking us back to a new world that "never happened."

The works of street artist, Felipe Pantone, reflect on the nature of communication in the era of information explosion, which feels like a collision between the past and the digital future. Humans and machines will inevitably interlace with each other in neon changes, geometric shapes, spectral illusion and cross-dimensional horizons. (2-1, 2-2, 2-3) 3. Filippo Del Vita, a New York photographer, often adds retro futuristic elements to his photography and decodes his advanced light and shadow thinking with digital elements from the 1980s. Representative Brand -- Off-White

The S/S 2020 of Off-White is launched in Paris. This season introduces the concept of "meteor strike" and interprets the universe theme with Mae Jemison, the first black woman to travel into the space. The round hole design resembles the impact craters formed by falling rocks. Computer-generated drafts are applied to the loose T-shirt and smooth raincoat with the linear design. The streamlined outline and the elastic sports fabric are corresponding to the millennium of the 1990s. The creativity reflects the perfect combination of science and art. This season starts from street clothing and urban culture and keeps up the fashion sports style. A few strings, arrows and the cross present the abnormal function of future wear.

Representative Brand -- Les Hommes

Tom Notte and Bart Vandebosch take a look back at the reveling moment in the 1990s and turn it into Les Hommes' new collection for S/S. They link the product to three key themes of Antwerp: cycling, Antwerp college and music. Media with a mixed sense is use to design deconstructed suits and sportswear, bringing the retro street sports style. The organza feel shirt is in acidic jelly color, reminiscent of the acidic culture of the 1990s. Competitive cycling pants, the compressed top with functional zipper and soft shell outerwear are applied to interpret the futurism in Made in Belgium.
