Pattern Trend

Mondrian is a Dutch painter. He takes geometric figures as the basic elements of his painting, and adopts three-primary colors to simplify the form into the pure abstract composition of horizontal and vertical lines. With his deep internal observation and insight, Mondrian creates the beauty of equilibrium in the universal phenomena. The dress of Yves Saint Laurent is inspired by Composition in Red, Blue and Yellow by Mondrian, which is the first time to combine fashion design and art. This leads to a trend of collaboration design between fashion and art. Yves saint Laurent also launches his own A/W 1966 collection, showing 10 Mondrian-inspired dresses that would surely make their way into fashion history and have a special name: Mondrian dress.

Inspiration for pattern

Shoes, bags, clothing of mlouye are all inspired by Mondrian geometry and Bauhaus movement, strongly industrial. Issey Miyake breaks and reorganizes classic Mondrian geometry, uses classic three primary colors to create irregular graphics. MSGM simplifies the classic Mondrian graphics, retains the essence of lines and three-primary colors, and adds green and pink, quite novel.

Runway style

Mondrian likes the beauty of straight lines, and believes that through the right-angle, we could observe the beauty inside everything. Thick black lines control rectangles of different sizes, creating a very simple structure. Three primary colors have a saturated hue and balance the whole picture.

Reappearance of Classics

Straight vertical and horizontal lines are abandoned, while red, yellow and blue are kept, showing the balance and order of the nature. Black lines show the rhythm of modern life. Mondrian graphics of basic transformation are more vibrant.
